Writing is an important form of communication and a key part of education. It takes time to develop strong writing skills, and it can be a tough task to accomplish. Here are some tips to improve it.
1. Reading. Regular reading is a stepping stone to better writing and helps kids’ strengthen their writing skills. Try to encourage your students to read, even if it's short novels, comics, short stories on the internet, fanfictions, etc.
2. Try to make it fun. Play games and activities that encourage writing. Crossword puzzles and word games are great for everyone. In our last post we presented some websites that can help you: Wordwall and Nearpod. Little ones can definitely enjoy these activities.
3. Encourage them to express themselves. Writing starts when we know what we want to say to the world. Sometimes, that's not the case and it's hard to start fresh. Encourage your students to write about the things they love, what they want to be, which topics seem interesting for them. Show them you are also interested! Present videos about their likes in your class and discuss with them what are their thoughts about them.
